Drop Tray
Paste it here on one device, pick it up on your others.
Nothing here yet. Paste something on any of your devices and it shows up here.
Pinned · kept until you unpin them
Settings
Pinned drops always stay. A cleared file goes to your Drive's Trash, which keeps it for another 30 days. This setting is shared by all your devices.
How it works
Sending. Press Ctrl+V anywhere on the page (not inside a box) and what you copied is sent at once: text, code, or a screenshot. To edit first, paste into the box above and press Send or Ctrl+Enter. Files go with Choose files, or drag them onto the page.
Picking up. Your other devices show a new drop within about ten seconds while this page is open, and straight away when you click into the page. Copy puts text or a picture on the clipboard exactly as it was sent; files have Download. Press C (outside the box) to copy the newest drop.
Even quicker, per device. Tick Copy new drops to this clipboard on a laptop and a drop sent from another device lands on its clipboard as soon as you click into the page: switch laptops, click the tab, press Ctrl+V. Text and pictures only, and only drops sent in the last hour. Tick Notify me of new drops for a notification while the page sits in another tab or behind another window (it checks Drive every 20 seconds while hidden, and only while the sign-in lasts). Both are off until you turn them on, and each laptop has its own.
Where it lives. Text is kept in Personal Apps/drop-tray.json and pictures and files in Personal Apps/Drop Tray, both in your own Google Drive. Text over 200 KB goes up as a .txt file. Files can be up to 100 MB.
Not for secrets. Everything is stored as plain text and plain files in your Drive. Passwords and keys belong in Strongroom.
Signing in. Each device signs in with Google once, and the sign-in lasts an hour. After that, one click anywhere on the page signs it back in (Google's window may flash open and close). If you close that window, use Continue with Google at the top instead. Text sent while signed out waits on the device and goes up after the tap.
Clearing. Drops older than the time in Settings (7 days unless you change it) are cleared on their own; pinned ones stay. Delete asks first and can be undone for a few seconds. Nothing is ever deleted for good here: files go to Drive's Trash.
